It’s been a long time since gaming was considered merely as something of a hobby. In fact, the gaming industry is now a huge sector, with thousands of gamers earning a living, including professional players. We’ve also seen specific games like Valorant and Fortnite gain huge followings, which has only added to the popularity of esports as a whole. Now kids talk about Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, with gamers analysing his moves on Fortnite, as though he was an athlete like Tom Brady or Von Miller.

Esports might not be as popular in the UK as it is in countries such as the U.S. and China, but a study revealed that around four million people in the country regularly watch esports. There are around 3,000 UK pro players too, including one of the best in the world in Jaden Ashman.

Esports Schedule

While there’s no shortage of esports leagues, the biggest is perhaps the Electronic Sports League. ESL is actually a combination of multiple esports leagues and tournaments operating under the name ESL. Among these is the ESL Pro League, which includes competitions for games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, referred to as ESL Pro League: CS:GO. You can find the schedule for these competitions in our above esports events calendar.

The length of a game depends on what’s being played. A competitive CS: GO game, for example, consists of 30 rounds, with each round lasting no more than one minute and 55 seconds. The first team to win 16 rounds wins that game. To win the entire match, however, a team typically needs to win either a best-of-three or a best-of-five games.

Esports Streaming

Esports are often streamed to online broadcasting sites. They’re also broadcast live to online platforms. And you’ll find esports on social media gaming sites too. When you start out streaming esports, you’ll notice that the biggest tournaments typically appear across multiple streaming platforms.

These tournaments show off the best players and are a great place to start. Esports has grown into such a community that you can now even watch it in bars with friends at the UK’s best esports bars. Who knows; there may even be an event scheduled for tonight or tomorrow if you’re lucky?
